Let me paint you a picture...

I’ve dabbled with various art forms over the years, but my artistic journey really accelerated in the wake of 2020 when three major life events occurred: I became a mom, I put my professional life–my psychotherapy practice–on hold so I could be a stay-at-home parent, and the Covid pandemic hit. My new role as a mom, the change in my longtime vocation, and the uncertainty and isolation of the pandemic were a lot to navigate all at once. Creating art helped me to cope with these simultaneous stressors.

In my work, I use a combination of archival-quality acrylic paint and fibers made of cotton, linen, or wool to create mixed media pieces. Some artworks are created upon paper and vintage wooden frames, while others are created on various types of fabric. Adding thread and yarn to my paintings gives them a deeper dimension and a more complex texture to experience. Sometimes I gravitate to solo painting or embroidery. Most of my art is inspired by my garden and my vast collection of houseplants.  All of my artwork is of my own original creation.
